# When the offer doesn’t add up.

An official-looking badge can do a lot of work on a sales page. Slow the conversation down. Ask what product it is, who assesses you, and what can be checked.

## A research label does not identify an approved medicine.

Tesamorelin bottles labelled “for research use only”, meaning laboratory work, and mixtures with other peptide substances were not approved EGRIFTA products (September 2026).

FDA (Food and Drug Administration) letters reviewed in September 2026 said some sellers labelled products for laboratory research while also promoting them for people to inject. The sellers also offered water to mix the products for injection.

Those letters are allegations against the particular firms that received them, rather than court findings.

Fair question

### Does a report about what is in the bottle prove approval?

A document claiming the bottle contains only the stated substance is a claim about its contents. Ask for the approved product name and its FDA medicine record.

Federal law does not allow a pharmacy to make its own tesamorelin shots for patients (September 2026).

Neither FDA registration nor a listing for a drug meant FDA approval as of September 2026.

An NDC is the product code used in a drug directory; the code was not proof of FDA approval as of September 2026.

FDA also says it does not approve healthcare providers.

Seals that look official and money-back guarantees can be fake, the Federal Trade Commission warns.

For a useful check, ask what record the badge points to and which organisation holds that record.

### What if they offer it without a prescription?

Supplying a prescription drug without a valid prescription was forbidden by federal law as of September 2026.

## The assessment must leave room for questions.

Medical board guidance says choosing a shot from an order menu is not enough: a clinician must first assess whether the treatment fits you (September 2026).

Under the guidance, patients must also have a way to ask the clinician follow-up questions.

That is guidance for boards; the enforceable rules are the state’s own.

A form is not automatically the problem. Ask who reads it, how they can ask you more questions, and how you can ask yours.

Pause an offer that cannot name the product, the clinician, or the pharmacy supplying the medicine. Ask for those gaps to be answered in writing.
