# Where does real care start?

Start with a health question you want answered. A product menu can wait. The person assessing you and the medicine being offered both need a closer look.

## Choose a setting for the assessment.

You can begin by asking an in-person clinic for an assessment, or by asking a licensed telehealth service what care it can offer.

With telehealth, you speak to a clinician by video, by phone, or through an online exchange, without being in the same room.

A clinician is the health professional who carries out your assessment. A prescriber is the person able to write a prescription.

As of September 2026, state rules still governed online prescribing and differed from state to state.

### Does online care count as real care?

The Federation of State Medical Boards says the standard of care for a screen visit must match that for an in-person visit.

Medical boards make up that federation. The guidance gives boards a model to use; it is not one law for the whole country.

Ask how the service will handle a visit that needs more than an online exchange.

## The product is a separate check.

As of September 2026, the approved tesamorelin labels were for EGRIFTA SV and EGRIFTA WR.

Tesamorelin sold as “research only”, meaning labelled for laboratory work, or mixed with other peptide substances was not an approved EGRIFTA product (September 2026).

A pharmacist or doctor can prepare medicine for a specific order; this is called compounding.

Tesamorelin belongs to a medicine group with separate federal approval rules (September 2026).

FDA (Food and Drug Administration) says pharmacies cannot legally make their own versions of medicines in this group (September 2026).

### Could a pharmacy just make a cheaper version?

No. A pharmacy cannot legally make its own tesamorelin shot for patients under federal law (September 2026).

Pause an offer for a pharmacy-made copy. Ask the prescriber to identify the approved product before moving ahead.

- What is the name and licence of the person who will assess me?

- What exact tesamorelin product is being proposed?

- Which pharmacy would supply the medicine?

- How can I speak with the clinician after the visit?
